Don’t Read This if You Love to Plan. Action Minded People Only!

After spending four days in Boston last week… I’m ready.  Ready for what?  A revolution!

No place more inspiring (to me anyway) than the steps of the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was read for the very first time.  We DECLARED our INDEPENDENCE on that spot! It’s been more than two and a half centuries hence.  War and revolution seem to make sense now.  Their ideas seem so simple… but that’s only because we know how the story ends.

Old State House Balcony, Boston

Revolutions are never simple.  The Declaration of Independence was ludicrous.  Words and ideas are powerful especially when acted upon. explains:

Official proclamations were read from the Old State House balcony, on the east side of the building, facing the town square and State (formerly King) Street, the main commercial street in the 18th century. The square beneath the balcony was the site of the Boston Massacre on March 5, 1770, when a handful of British soldiers fired into a taunting crowd, killing five men. Today a circle of paving stones marks the area of the Massacre.

On July 18, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was first proclaimed from the balcony, to the jubilant citizens of Boston. Later that day, the rooftop statues of a lion and unicorn, along with other symbols of royal authority, were pulled down and burned in a bonfire.

The revolutionaries met secretly in pubs to discuss strategy.  I’m glad they poured their creativity and energy into their ideas.  I am more grateful they had the courage to ACT!

So, gather with your teams, talk for a while about how you want to change the world – but for heaven’s sake – GO DO IT!  Take action.  Don’t let fear cloud your vision.  Start your revolution to:
